Skeptical and strong-minded Cat has no intention of falling for a guy she just met on vacation with friends. Especially one she meets at a grungy bar. Unfortunately for her she meets Josh, and her plans and feelings are thrown for a loop. Josh seems perfect. But Cat has dated smooth talkers like him and there is always a catch. When Her and Josh decide to take their relationship back home, Cat is sure she will figure him out and their relationship will never survive away from the sunny days and sandy beaches. Cat may be right, but she soon realizes that she may be the one setting the relationship up to fail.
Let me just say...WOW! This story is HOT! For a first novel, the author did a wonderful job! I know the hard work she put into this story and it shows beautifully. Lucky for all of us, book 2 in her new Summer Nights Series is set to be released Summer 2020.
The author does a fantastic job at dialogue between characters. The banter between Cat, her friends, and Josh, was fun to read. The supporting characters shined in parts of the story. There were moments where I was literally laughing out loud. I felt like I knew enough of the characters backstories without getting an unloading of too much information.
I enjoyed how the story was told through a year of Cat and Josh's relationship. At first, I thought the story would only take place at the beach but was pleasantly surprised when the author took them back home. For me, reading about the different experiences the couple went through back home, good and bad, made the story seem more "real" in a way. This story is not your typical rom-com, sweet romance. And I mean that as a compliment. We all know I love sweet romance reads too, but for me, this story went a bit deeper.
I would give this story 5 out of 5 stars. "The Catch" is an amazing read. My suggestion is picking this up as soon as possible. It is a perfect story to read around Valentine's Day and will take your mind to sunny skies and sandy beaches. And who doesn't want that in February?!
